Child Abuse Treatment and Services

The Metropolitan Regional Child Abuse Diagnostic and Treatment Services Staff

The Metro RDTC is dedicated to working with children, families, and agencies to help heal children and families that experience child sexual abuse, physical abuse, neglect and violence. We deliver a coordinated response of evidence-based mental health and medical services to children, parents, and caregivers, and train and educate professionals and the community to prevent all forms of abuse and neglect. Care is provided in a culturally-competent manner.

Our core mission is to help children and families heal.

The Metro Regional Diagnostic Treatment Center (Metro RDTC) provides compassionate, expert medical and psychosocial services for suspected victims of all types of child abuse and neglect, including physical and sexual abuse, neglect, and emotional abuse and emotional trauma. We also provide family education and therapeutic programs as well as clinical training, and community training, about child maltreatment.

We’re here for our community, and beyond.

The Metro RDTC is one of New Jersey’s four state-designated multidisciplinary centers for the evaluation and treatment of abused and neglected children. We primarily serve children and families who reside in Essex County.

Our team of physicians, social workers and psychologists are experts in the field of child maltreatment. They work closely with the Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P), the county prosecutor’s offices, the Office of the Public Defender Division of the Law Guardian, as well as hospitals, physicians, the courts, community groups and other organizations dedicated to restoring the health and well-being of abused and neglected children throughout New Jersey.
