Pharmacy Residency Program

This PGY-1 pharmacy residency is an ASHP accredited pharmacy residency program. There are two PGY-1 positions available at Clara Maass Medical Center. We participate in the ASHP Residency Matching Program as well as the Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service.

How to Apply

The applicant must submit the following materials via PhORCAS:

  1. Curriculum vitae
  2. Personal statement
  3. Copy of academic transcripts
  4. Three letters of recommendation

Other requirements include

  • Onsite interview
  • Must have valid NJ Pharmacy License by September 15th

Curriculum

Graduates of the program will develop and strengthen the following:

  • Leadership and practice management
  • Time management and project coordination
  • Evidence-based, patient-centered medication management with interdisciplinary teams
  • Provide education to healthcare professionals and the public
  • Perform pharmacy practice research that will be presented at ASHP’s Midyear Meeting and at the Eastern States Residency Conference
  • Ability to precept and teach pharmacy students

Rotations

  • Core: Hospital Pharmacy, Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Cardiology, Infectious Disease, Drug Information
  • Longitudinal: Practice Administration, Pharmacy Practice Research
  • Elective: Emergency Medicine, Pediatrics, Transplant, Oncology, Ambulatory Care, Psychiatry

Unique Opportunities

  • Clinical Collaborative Network: Integrates all clinical pharmacists and residents from the system’s seven hospitals. Network meets every other month to discuss clinical research and pharmacy practice initiatives
  • Teaching and Learning Certificate Program: Offered by the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers University, this program will strengthen the resident’s knowledge and skills in presenting lectures and precepting students.
