OGME-II

  • Key consultation resident at Barnabas Medical Center, Newark – Beth Israel Medical Center, and Bayonne Medical Center
  • Manage of postoperative patients and consultation inpatients and outpatients
  • Major surgical focus on general pediatric otolaryngology skills
  • Minor surgical focus on laryngoscopy, biopsy, closed reduction of nasal fractures
  • Develop skin and multilayer closure skills
  • Learn by assisting in upper level cases

OGME-III

  • Consultation resident at Barnabas Medical Center, Newark – Beth Israel Medical Center, and Bayonne Medical Center
  • Enhance skills gained in second year
  • Develop surgical skills in rhinology, endoscopic sinus surgery, open neck surgery and basic facial plastic surgery
  • Assist in all major cases
  • Attend Indiana Basic Science course

OGME-IV

  • Enhances skills gained in second and third year
  • Participate in focused Head and Neck Surgical Oncology 2-mo rotation at MSKCC
  • Consultation resident at Barnabas Medical Center, Newark – Beth Israel Medical Center, and Bayonne Medical Center
  • Operate with direct attending and chief resident assistance
  • Develop skills to perform major head and neck surgery procedures
  • Develop skills in facial plastic surgery, oral-maxillofacial surgery

OGME-V (Chief)

  • Build on all skills gained in prior years
  • Operate independently with direct visual supervision of the attending
  • Serve as key instructor and role model to junior residents
  • Develop skills in neuro-otology, facial plastic surgery, complex head and neck surgery
