Cancer Rehabilitation

Cancer patients receive specialized outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation services through a partnership between Monmouth Medical Center and the Rehabilitation Hospital of Tinton Falls.

Rehabilitation is tailored to meet the individualized needs of cancer patients, based on health issues resulting from the cancer or from cancer treatment. Important elements of most cancer rehabilitation programs include pain control, bladder and bowel management, the management of spasticity and/or weakness, and specific therapies designed to address and treat cognitive deficits (i.e., from brain tumors).

The Rehabilitation Hospital of Tinton Falls is a joint venture of HealthSouth, headquartered in Birmingham, Ala., and Monmouth Medical Center. Todd Cooperman, M.D., serves as medical director of the acute care rehabilitation facility, as well as section chief of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Monmouth Medical Center.

The Rehabilitation Hospital provides acute inpatient rehabilitation services that include physiatry delivered by physicians specialized in physical medicine and rehabilitation, neuropsychological evaluation and treatment, and physical, occupational and speech therapies.

Therapists from The Rehabilitation Hospital also provide rehab services on site to patients who are hospitalized at Monmouth Medical Center.
