Cancer Conference

In accordance with Commission on Cancer guidelines, Tumor Board conferences provide a forum for physicians and other health care professionals to evaluate and discuss patient cases and collectively determine proper courses of treatment, based on type of case presentation.

Case presentations included a review of pertinent medical history, physical and laboratory findings, an overview of pathologic slides and radiological studies, and discussion of therapeutic alternatives in the management of cancer.

Since most of these presentations were prospective, they focused on pretreatment evaluation, staging, and treatment strategy or management options to be undertaken anytime during the course of a patient’s disease. With an attendance rate of more than 85 percent in 2007, physicians represented surgery, pathology, radiology, medical oncology and radiation oncology.
