Diagnostic Imaging of the Brain

Monmouth Medical Center adheres to established protocols for imaging studies for neuroradiology that have been developed by the leading universities. These protocols ensure patient safety and comfort and deliver optimal imaging for precise diagnosis of brain or spine disease.

To investigate brain disease, neurologists, neurosurgeons and neuroradiologists may recommend the following brain scans, or imaging studies:

CT Scan of the head
CT Angiography (CTA) of the head
MRI of the brain, internal auditory canals, or the pituitary gland.
MR Angiography (MRA) of the head

Diagnostic Imaging of the Head and Neck

For the diagnosis of head and neck abnormalities, the following scans may be performed:

CT Scan of the sinuses
CT Scan of the orbits
CT Scan of the mastoids/temporal bones
CT Scan of the neck
CT Angiography (CTA) of the neck
MRI of the neck
MRI of the orbits
MR Angiography (MRA) of the neck

Diagnostic Imaging of the Spine and Spinal Cord

For diseases of the spine and spinal cord the following modalities may be employed to reveal the cause of patient pain, discomfort, or neurological difficulties:

CT Scan of the cervical spine
CT Scan of the thoracic spine
CT Scan of the lumbar spine
MRI of the cervical spine
MRI of the thoracic spine
MRI of the lumbar spine
