The Region's Most Comprehensive Spine Program

Monmouth Neuroscience Center provides the most advanced clinical care for patients with spinal disease, or other debilitating conditions of the spine. Treatment ranges from complex spinal reconstruction, correction of spinal deformities, removal of spinal tumors and multi-level spinal fusion.

Our neurosurgeons provide relief to patients with neck and back pain using minimally invasive and endoscopic surgical techniques, as well as traditional open surgical options to treat cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine conditions. The most common surgical options include:

Discectomy — In this type of spine surgery, the herniated disc is removed and relieves the pressure on the nerves.
Foramenotomy — A foramenotomy removes a portion of bone and other tissue that is compressing the nerve as it exits the spinal column.

Laminectomy — Done to relieve pressure on the spinal cord itself, laminectomy is strategic removal of bone to treat spinal stenosis and spondylolisthesis. Depending on the amount of bone removed to relieve pressure, this procedure may be done with a spinal fusion to prevent instability.

Spinal Fusion — Spinal fusion eliminates motion between adjacent vertebrae to treat instability (spondylolisthesis) or it may be done to prevent instability after other surgery (such as a laminectomy) in which bone has been removed.

Spinal Disc Replacement — Used to treat chronic, severe degenerative disc disease, disc replacement is a treatment option that may be considered to treat specific types of back pain.
