The Certified Stroke Center at Monmouth
Monmouth’s Certified Stroke Center provides comprehensive care to patients with stroke or TIA. While patients are immediately evaluated for stroke and clot busting thrombolytic therapy as part of standard protocol, special imaging techniques also are available to determine cases where additional treatment may be helpful. If necessary, these patients can be rapidly transferred to our affiliated Comprehensive Stroke Center at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston.
Stroke Rehabilitation: Evaluation and Care
Once medically stable, all stroke patients at Monmouth are evaluated by our rehabilitation medical experts. If further inpatient rehabilitation is necessary, patients can then be transferred to the HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Tinton Falls, our affiliated full service stroke certified rehabilitation facility.
Patients with TIAs can be referred from the emergency room to our dedicated TIA clinic, so that they can be expeditiously evaluated for carotid and heart disease to prevent future TIAs and strokes, without the need for admission to the hospital. That provides immediate access to trained therapists, splinting and even in-patient rehabilitation services if necessary.
