Alice D Cardiac Services - Alice's Story

"I have been given the tools to improve my quality of life through activity and my diet."

As a lifelong resident of the area, Monmouth Medical Center has touched my life so many times.

Eighty-eight years ago on Halloween, I was born at what is now Monmouth Medical Center. I weighed only one pound and the odds were not in my favor.

Fast-forward 83 years, to five years ago. I had a heart attack while out to dinner with my family and friends. Again, I beat the odds thanks to the care I received at Monmouth.

During my recovery, I became one of the first patients enrolled in the Medical Center’s outpatient Heart Failure Management Program and I feel very lucky for that.

According to the American Heart Association, heart failure is the leading cause of hospitalization in people over 65 years of age.

Thanks to consistent follow-up through the Heart Failure Management Program, as well as with my cardiologist, I have been given the tools to improve my quality of life through activity and my diet. And, it is wonderful to know that I can call a member of the staff any time day or night if I have problems or questions. They are a part of my family.

Generous donations can help support positive outcomes like mine at Monmouth Medical Center.

From my own birth, to the births of both of my children and most recently my cardiac care, Monmouth Medical Center has always been here for me. You never know when you or a family member may need medical care. When those times do arise, having the best health care options and support services close to home is invaluable.
