The Joel Opatut Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Program at Monmouth Medical Center offers individualized exercise and educational programs for participants with cardiac or pulmonary conditions. Workouts are conducted under the supervision of registered nurses and respiratory care practitioners. The newly designed facility features state-of-the-art fitness equipment and is fully accredited by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.

Through education, exercise and counseling, participants learn ways to prevent or decrease risk factors for developing heart disease - steps to a healthier heart and healthier life.

Providing You With A Personal Exercise Prescription

Because regular exercise has been proven to enable the heart to work more efficiently, the program provides participants with custom-designed exercise regimens.

Our highly specialized staff works closely with you and your physician in developing exercise programs that meet your individual needs. Workouts are conducted under the supervision of a registered nurse specially trained in coronary care as well as an exercise specialist. These professionals will monitor your heart's rhythm, rate and blood pressure to measure your body's response to the exercise.

Our newly designed facility features state-of-the-art fitness equipment, including treadmills, arm ergometers, rowing machines and stationary bicycles.

Living Heart Smart

Studies show that exercise programs work best in conjunction with healthy living education. Our individual and group educational sessions help you understand how to embark on a healthier lifestyle.

In addition, the program gives you the opportunity to learn about proper nutrition, weight management, coronary disease process, risk-factor modification and stress management.

Is Cardiac Rehabilitation Right For You?

Monmouth's Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is open to individuals who have had heart bypass surgery, Valve replacement surgery, a heart attack, angioplasty, stent or stable angina. In addition, those who are looking for services to improve their cardiac health are eligible and can speak to their doctor about a referral to the program.

Most major medical insurance plans, including Medicare, cover some program charges.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program

The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program at Monmouth Medical Center is designed for individuals living with pulmonary disease. Through exercise and education, participants will become more active and independent – and on their way to a better quality of life.

The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program will provide individualized education on topics including:

  • Activities of daily living, such as shopping, traveling and bathing
  • Bronchial hygiene
  • Medications
  • Nutrition
  • Stress management, including coping and relaxation techniques

Additionally, participants will learn about the pulmonary disease process, and the signs and symptoms of complications of the disease.

Providing a personalized exercise prescription

These professionals monitor each participant’s heart rate, blood pressure and oxygen saturation to measure the body’s response to exercise.

Our newly designed facility features state-of-the-art fitness equipment, including tread mills, arm ergometers, rowing machines and stationary bicycles.

Is Pulmonary Rehabilitation right for you?

Monmouth’s Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program is open to individuals who have either obstructive or restrictive pulmonary disease. Those who are eligible can speak to their doctor about a referral.
