Successful Fundraising

1. ASK
It is proven that most charitable donations are made because someone was asked.

2. START NOW
Get your fundraising done early.

3. TELL YOUR STORY WITH PASSION AND ENTHUSIASM
The more excited you are, the more excited your donors will become. It’s infectious!

4. EXPAND YOUR AUDIENCE
Include a wide circle of friends, relatives, business associates, etc. Ask both in person and via email.

5. KNOW WHY YOU ARE WALKING
Are you a patient, a family member or a friend of a patient? Know that NBIMC has performed more than 925 heart transplants and that it is the largest adult heart transplant program on the East Coast. Know that NBIMC is consistently named among the nation’s top 50 hospitals for specialty care in Heart and Heart Surgery by US News for Americas Best Hospitals.

6. MAKE YOUR OWN CONTRIBUTION
Let others know you have contributed to Heart & Sole already.

7. ASK FOR HELP
You don’t have to do this alone! Make copies of walker pledge sheets with your information, and ask others to collect on your behalf.

8. SHARE YOUR FUNDRAISING GOAL WITH DONORS
If potential donors know that you are trying to reach a particular goal, they may be more inclined to lend a hand to help you get there.

9. EXPAND YOUR FUNDRAISING METHODS
Have a fundraising party, launch an email campaign, mail letters, and solicit a corporate sponsorship. Maybe you have a special hobby or talent that you particularly enjoy? Baking cookies? Babysitting? Turn these talents into fundraising!

10. EXPRESS YOUR APPRECIATION
Remember to send a "thank you" note to each and every donor and to follow up after the Walk is completed. Consider writing donors’ names on your Heart & Sole T-shirt and let them know they are with you every step of the way.
