Diverticular Disease

Diverticular Disease may include three conditions – Diverticulosis, Diverticulitis, and Diverticular Bleeding. Diverticulosis is the development of small sacs, or pockets, in the wall of the colon. Diverticulitis, which requires immediate medical attention, is inflammation and infection of these pockets which can cramps, abdominal pain, fever, a change in bowel habits, and can lead to serious complications. Diverticular bleeding can occur from injury to the small blood vessels next to the pockets and requires immediate medical attention.
