Pediatric Pulmonology

Our System's pediatric pulmonologists employ their years of experience and access to the latest in diagnostic equipment and technology to treat children with lung conditions. Our facilties are equiped to evaluate and treat infants, children, and adolescents for both chronic and acute respiratory conditions. Our extensive health network and multidisciplinary approach allows access to a full team of pediatric specialists supported by New Jersey's largest health care system.

For children with mild, moderate or severe asthma, we provide diagnosis and treatment and teach the patient and his/her family how to manage and control the disease. Children with acute, long-lasting cough are often referred to our physicians for evaluation of this often difficult to diagnose problem. We diagnose and treat all forms of pediatric respiratory infections as well as recurrent and persistant pneumonias.

Our pulmonologists work with Neonatal Intensive Care Units in our hospitals and surrounding hospitals to evaluate and treat premature infants who are at risk for developing long-term respiratory problems includng chronic lung disease (CLD) and bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD). For those babies who go home from the hospital on heart monitors or respiratory monitors, we follow their progress and assist the patient's neonatologist and/or pediatrician in their care. Our Cystic Fibrosis Centers are among the select few cystic fibrosis centers in the state of New Jersey and among 115 centers that have been accredited by the national Cystic national Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Our centers provide a full array of services for children, including transitional care and adult care to the ever growing number of patients who survive into adulthood.
