Senior Health (Geriatrics)
We provide comprehensive, integrated, senior health services to older adults
throughout the state. Physicians, nurses, therapists and other health
care professionals, experienced in treating the conditions and disorders
associated with aging, work with patients in a variety of clinical settings.
The focus of Senior Health and Geriatric services is helping seniors maintain
their independence and functionality.
Through Barnabas Health Senior Health and Geriatric services, seniors can
access geriatric assessments by specialists. The assessment team is available
for all aspects of medical care, including the evaluation and treatment
of falls, dementia, loss of mobility, incontinence, constipation, depression,
weight loss, and medication problems. Geriatric centers and home care
are available for those with long-term care needs. Total health care on
an outpatient basis enables the patient to live independently at home
and to enhance his or her quality of life.
The uniqueness of the program lies in its multidisciplinary approach to
providing medical care for seniors. A team of specially-trained geriatricians
and Advance Practice Nurses provides primary care to patients, and if
necessary, will make referrals to sub-specialty physicians.
