    Brief Biography Adolfo Fernandez-Obregon Adolfo Fernandez-Obregon finished undergraduate studies at Columbia College in New York before moving on to New York Medical College to earn the MD degree. After completing an internship in Internal Medicine at the Lincoln Hospital and Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in the Bronx, he entered military service, serving as General Medical Officer, and ultimately the Senior Medical Officer, at the Naval Station in Brooklyn, NY. He completed dermatology residency at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD, and completed 8 years of military service. His last tour was at the Dept. of Dermatology at the Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, VA. After leaving the Navy in 1987, he established his dermatology practice in Hoboken, NJ. He holds an academic appointment as Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology in New York Medical College, and teaches dermatology to Family Practice residents at Hoboken University Medical Center. He established the Evening Rounds in Dermatology as part of the Dermatology Residency Program, and served as Director of that program for 7 years. He has served as Associate Clinical Professor of Family Practice, at the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey at Newark. He continues as instructor of dermatology to residents Family Practice at the Hoboken University Medical Center, having done the same for internal medicine and pediatrics residents at Jersey City Medical Center. He has conducted clinical research and clinical trials on the use of oral retinoids to prevent skin cancer, application of topical steroids in stasis dermatitis, the evaluation of debriding agents in the management of pressure ulcers, and the use of biological skin substitutes for the closure of wounds following surgical excision of non-melanoma skin cancers. More recent studies include evaluation of agents aimed at reducing skin pigmentation, comparison of different antimicrobials used to treat skin infection, and the use of topical agents for the treatment of acne, acne rosacea, and psoriasis. In the past 9 years, he completed a study on the use of LCD lasers for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia, and has been conducting clinical trials on the effectiveness and safety of the several biologicals for the treatment of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. Dr. Fernandez-Obregon lectures regularly to dermatologists, other medical specialties, and the medical interns and residents on the recognition of skin diseases, and new treatments available to treat dermatological diseases. He has contributed over 30 peer review publications, and 4 book chapters. He serves on several advisory councils and committees for hospital and industry. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. He is a Past President of the Hudson County Medical Society and a previous member to the House of Delegates of the Medical Society of the State of New Jersey.
