Subroto Paul, MD, MPH, a fellowship trained, board certified Thoracic Surgeon,
recently joined The Department of Surgery at Saint Barnabas Medical Center.
He specializes in the surgical treatment of lung cancer and other thoracic
As a surgeon that embraces the multi-disciplinary approach to cancer care,
Dr. Paul strives to carefully explain all diagnostic and therapeutic options
available. In that way, his patient gets involved in their own care to
help ensure that they receive the most advanced care possible. He will
work collaboratively with the members of the oncology team including medical
oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, and radiation oncologists.
Before joining Saint Barnabas, Dr. Paul served as Associate Professor of
Cardiothoracic Surgery and an Attending Surgeon in the Division of Thoracic
Surgery at the New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center.
He also held a secondary appointment in the Department of Health Policy
Dr. Paul received his undergraduate education from Yale University. He
then earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and stayed
in Boston to complete both his General Surgery residency and Thoracic
Surgery fellowship at Brigham and Women's Hospital, a Harvard Medical
School affiliate. He has also completed a Master of Public Health from
Dr. Paul is rated as one of New York Magazine’s Best Doctors and
has published more than 80 peer-reviewed articles in thoracic surgery.
Dr. Paul is interested in the minimally invasive treatment of both malignant
and benign thoracic disorders.
