    Director of Thoracic Surgery, Northern Region, RWJBarnabas Health

    Dr. Joanna Sesti was born in Havana, Cuba, and immigrated to the United States in 1989. She completed her medical school training in the New Jersey Medical School. She then went on to the integrated general Surgery/cardiothoracic surgery program at New York University. Finally, she completed an advanced training fellowship in minimally invasive thoracic surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She has been a member of the RWJ Barnabas Health system since 2017. Her main interests include minimally invasive and robotic thoracic surgery, lung cancer, esophageal cancer, benign esophageal diseases, and mediastinal masses. She has published a number of book chapters within the field of thoracic surgery and has several peer reviewed publications.
