Teresita Medina Appointed Chief Nursing Officer of Barnabas Health Behavioral Health Center

The Barnabas Health Behavioral Health Network has announced that Teresita (Tess) Medina, MAS, BSN, RN-BC will assume the role of Chief Nursing Officer for the Barnabas Health Behavioral Health Center. Previously, she served as administrative director of Behavioral Health Services at Monmouth Medical Center.

In addition to her new role at the Behavioral Health Center, Medina will provide nursing leadership and support to the Barnabas Health Behavioral Health Network and continue to support the Behavioral Health Services at Monmouth Medical Center as needed during recruitment of her successor and her transition.

Medina has more than 30 years of nursing experience and 14 years of combined nursing leadership experience with RWJBarnabas Health. During her tenure with the system, she has held the positions of nurse manager of Adult Voluntary Behavioral Health Unit at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, director of Behavioral Health Services at Clara Maass Medical Center and administrative director of Behavioral Health Services at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. Medina is also is a faculty professor for the School of Healthcare at Berkeley College in Clifton, New Jersey.

She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Saint Jude College in Manila, Philippines and a Master in Administrative Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck. She holds a certification as a Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and is a member of the Philippine Nurse Association, NJ Psychiatric Nursing Association and the Sigma Theta Tau – Lambda Delta Chapter (International Honor Society of Nursing). She is also an active member of the marketing committee for the NJ Organization of Nurse Leaders.
