Hop Over October Event

West Orange, NJ – From left to right, Dr. Michael Palescandolo, Animal Emergency and Referral Associates, Fairfield; Ethan Kassel and Kasey, Garden State Eldercare, South Orange; and Laurie Berkman, Paws for Patients Program Coordinator, Barnabas Health Hospice and Palliative Care Center (BHHPCC), at Sunday’s Hop Over October event held at Degnan Field in West Orange to benefit the BHHPCC Paws for Patients canine therapy program.

In October, Hurricane Sandy forced the cancellation of the annual “October Tails,” event, the signature fundraiser for the Paws for Patients program. Hop over October, a special spring-themed event, was created to help support the mission of providing canine pet therapy to hospice patients of all ages.

The day’s festivities, which included a spring-themed costume contest for dogs, a scavenger hunt for children, and prizes and gifts, were sponsored by Animal Emergency and Referral Associates and the Animal Eye Center of New Jersey, West Caldwell Animal Hospital, Garden State Eldercare, Verona and Montclair Animal Hospitals, Regal Bank, and Evercare Veterinary Crematory Services.

Save the Date: The 5th Annual October Tails Halloween-themed costume contest for dogs will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2013 in Verona Park, Verona, NJ. Check barnabashealthhospice.org for future updates and registration information.
