Hospice Volunteer Training Scheduled in Ocean County

Beginning on Tuesday, September 9, Barnabas Health Van Dyke Hospice and Palliative Care Center will host a free ten-week volunteer training program in Toms River for individuals interested in becoming a hospice volunteer. Each of the ten sessions will be held on a Tuesday afternoon, from 2 to 4 p.m., at Bayview Corporate Center located at 1433 Hooper Avenue in Toms River. Programs will be held on September 9, 16, 23 and 30; October 7, 14, 21 and 28; and November 4 and 11.

The volunteer training program is designed to give participants an understanding of the needs of patients and families who are coping with advanced illness. Upon completion of the program, volunteers will be connected with patients in close proximity to where they reside. Volunteer opportunities are available in the Barnabas Health Van Dyke Hospice office in Toms River, as well as in patient homes, hospitals and long-term care facilities. Hours are flexible and designed to accommodate your schedule and availability.
