After a loved one has passed away, individuals may experience a variety of emotions. Some may begin to have anxiety, worried that they will not be able to manage their daily routines. Others speak of a sense of guilt, wondering if they could have done more for their loved one, said something different or made better decisions.
Barnabas Health Hospice understands that grief is a process that is difficult to experience alone. At some point, you may find yourself asking the question, "Why can't I get over it?" The answer is — everyone mourns differently and at different rates. The grieving process has no timetable.
Barnabas Health Hospice's bereavement groups are designed to help individuals through grief at their own pace. Facilitated by experienced, licensed clinicians the groups provide a safe environment to share feelings and gain support.

Yoga for the bereaved: Mondays, 6 to 7 p.m.; West Orange
General bereavement group: Mondays, 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.; West Orange
Ongoing bereavement drop-in group: Tuesdays, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.; West Orange - Tuesdays, 3 to 4 p.m.; Newark - Thursdays, 3 to 4 p.m.; Long Branch
Individual grief support sessions: The group environment is not ideal for all who are grieving. Individual grief sessions are available by appointment with our bereavement counselors.
