Flu Visitation Guidelines Also: Tips for What You Can Do to Stay Healthy

Due to the increasing number of flu cases in New Jersey, Barnabas Health is implementing steps, in accordance with the recommendations by the New Jersey Hospital Association (NJHA) to protect our patients, their families and staff by temporarily limiting visitation in our facilities for the benefit of overall public health.

Visitation limitations being implemented include:

  • No visitors under 18—No one under the age of 18 is allowed in the hospital unless they are a patient, a volunteer who has provided proof of immunization, or unless other circumstances as defined below under special considerations.
  • No sick visitors— Anyone who has a fever, cough, sore throat, fatigue, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea, will not be permitted to visit.

Special considerations will be made for hospice or terminally ill patients who are not expected to be discharged from the hospital.

Barnabas Health’s Departments of Safety and Infection Control are continuously monitoring the situation and will continue to keep you apprised of any additional changes to policies.

Barnabas Health highly recommends individuals who have not yet obtained a flu shot to do so. For a referral to a physician click here or call 1.888.724.7123. To find a flu shot near you, visit
