West Orange, NJ, July 16, 2015---- Robert T. Adamson, PharmD., FASHP, has been named Chief Pharmacy Officer for Barnabas Health, New Jersey's largest health care system. In his new role, Dr. Adamson oversees and provides strategic leadership for all of the corporate pharmacy services throughout the system, including the six Barnabas Health retail pharmacies.
In making the announcement, which is effective immediately, John F. Bonamo, M.D., M.S., Barnabas Health Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, stated, "Dr. Adamson is supremely qualified to provide oversight and direction for one of the most important services in the entire Barnabas Health enterprise. His deep understanding of pharmaceutical services and his national and international relationships will ensure that our pharmacy professionals are at the forefront in caring for our patients."
Dr. Adamson held the position of Barnabas Health Corporate Vice President of Clinical Pharmacy Services, since 2001. He served as Vice President of IDEAS, a Barnabas Health Medical Communications Company, from 2004 to 2013. Prior to Barnabas Health, Dr. Adamson was employed by Pfizer Pharmaceutical, Inc., and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, University Hospital.
After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from St. John's College of Pharmacy, he earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Rutgers University College of Pharmacy. Dr. Adamson served an internship in Oncology/Infectious Disease at New York Hospital Cornell Medical Center He is currently an adjunct professor at Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers University, the University of Florida College of Pharmacy, and Albany College of Pharmacy.
Dr. Adamson has conducted several disease research studies in the areas of infectious disease, oncology and oncology supportive care, and various internal medicine subjects. He is a recipient of the Greg Santora New Jersey Pharmacist of the Year Award, and was bestowed fellowship designation in 2014 by the American Society of Health System Pharmacists, among a wealth of professional awards and honors.
In addition to publishing his research in prestigious medical journals, he serves on the Editorial Board of Pharmacy Practice News, is a reviewer for both the American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy and Hospital Pharmacy, and has presented his work at over 500 medical conferences nationally and internationally, in addition to authoring articles in peer-reviewed journals and book contributions. He is a member of the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists, American College of Clinical Pharmacy and the New Jersey Society of Health System Pharmacists.
Dr. Adamson is a resident of Monroe, New Jersey.
