Clara Maass Medical Center Foundation’s Signature Event, “A Tasteful Experience,” An Evening Of Sensational Food And Wine

Raises Money For Child Life Services

Belleville, NJ – Clara Maass Medical Center Foundation's signature event, A Tasteful Experience, raised over $84,000 for Child Life Services at the Medical Center on Monday, November 17, 2014. The evening of sensational food and wine was hosted by the Foundation, in partnership with Amanti Vino, at the Pleasantdale Chateau in West Orange, NJ. Funds raised at this year's event will benefit the Medical Center's Child Life Program which helps children and their families cope with illness and hospitalization.

Nearly 300 philanthropic and influential guests attended the event in support of pediatric services that improve the quality of life for children in need of medical care, and for a taste of New Jersey's best food and wine.

: Chefs from Costanera, located in Montclair, prepare their specialty plates including Chicharron de Pescado (quinoa crusted Atlantic Cod fritters), Ensalada de Pulpo (grilled octopus salad, pork sausage, potatoes, arugula and herb aioli), and Ensalada de Quinoa (quinoa, tomato, almonds, dried cranberries and lime citronette) to serve to the guests.

The evening featured the area's finest restaurants, bakeries and purveyors of spirits who donated their time, talent and delicious product to benefit Clara Maass. Among the culinary delights were Italian, French, Peruvian, Ethiopian, Mexican, and continental cuisines. Vendors participating in this year's event include Above Restaurant and Bar; Costanera Cocina Peruana; Escape Montclair; Fiji Water; Fin Raw Bar and Kitchen; Fricassée; Gencarelli's Bakery; Jaret's Stuffed Cupcakes; Kobrick Coffee; The Manor; Mesob; Miss Nicky's Gourmet Toffee; Nanina's in the Park; Pleasantdale Chateau; Salute Bistro; Scala del Nonna; Senorita's Mexican Grill; Sodexo; Toast; Toscania Trattoria; and Ward's Ice Cream.

CMMC Trustee, Sommelier and Proprietor of Amanti Vino in Montclair, Sharon Sevrens, represented some of the finest wines. Ms. Sevrens has been a loyal supporter of A Tasteful Experience since 2005, and brings a passion for hand-selected artisanal wines from around the world. In addition, Warwick Valley Winery & Distillery, New York's wildly popular micro-distillery, participated in the charitable event. The Distillery is co-owned by Jeremy Kidde, whose grandfather, John F. Kidde, was a hospital trustee and leader in the $2.8 million campaign in 1948 to relocate Newark's Lutheran Memorial Hospital, build it in Belleville and rename it Clara Maass Hospital.

"We are extremely appreciative of this year's outstanding participants, along with the 300 guests who attended in the name of philanthropy," said Vicki Robinson, Vice President, Clara Maass Medical Center Foundation. "Guests not only enjoyed some of the best food and libation around, but departed from the night knowing they contributed to helping to reduce the fears and anxiety of our youngest patients, whether in the emergency department or as an inpatient."

"It meant so much to me to witness the turnout at this year's event," added Laura Pantusco, Certified Child Life Specialist at Clara Maass Medical Center. "It's heartwarming to know that through philanthropic efforts such as that of A Tasteful Experience, I'll be able to continue providing a high level of comfort and care to our pediatric patients, siblings and new mothers."
