CMMC Nurse is a March of Dimes 2015 Nurse of the Year Nominee

Donna Feinblum, RN, a staff nurse in the Special Care Nursery at Clara Maass Medical Center, a Barnabas Health facility, is a March of Dimes 2015 Nurse of the Year Award Nominee in the Neonatal category. Nominated for the extraordinary care she provides to neonatal patients, Feinblum was one of more than 400 nurses statewide who were recognized in 19 categories at the 10th Annual March of Dimes - New Jersey Chapter Nurse of the Year awards program at the Pines Manor in Edison.

The March of Dimes Nurse of the Year Award program brings together the health care community while honoring nursing excellence and achievements in research, education, quality patient care, innovation and leadership.

Mary Ellen Clyne, PhD, President and CEO of Clara Maass Medical Center, said, “We are proud that Donna Feinblum earned the nomination for March of Dimes 2015 Nurse of the Year in the Neonatal category. For 35 years, she has been a dedicated registered nurse who provides the highest quality care to infants and children in the Special Care Nursery of our hospital. In addition to being instrumental in patient care and operations, Donna’s compassion for patients has been her trademark.”

Feinblum leads the volunteer task force at CMMC that honors extraordinary nurses with The DAISY Award. “It’s an amazing honor to be named a finalist for this award from the March of Dimes for my contributions to Clara Maass Medical Center and my profession,” she said. “It’s a privilege to have the ability to care for the babies and children who are treated in the Special Care Nursery.”

According to Cynthia McMahon, Donna’s supervisor, “Donna approaches every task with boundless creative energy and a positive attitude. She actively participates in the collection of the Special Care Unit’s Performance Improvement data, maintains par levels for the supplies on the unit, she is a facilitator for the hospital’s Quality Council, and is an active member of the Nursing Research Council. Donna has also completed a Nursing Research Project on maternal journaling for our special care babies, which provides an emotional outlet for the Moms who are discharged while their babies remain in the Special Care Nursery. Her research project was a huge success and an article she co-authored with Roxana Gonzalez, Nurse Educator, is scheduled to be published in the International Journal for Human Caring.”
