Clara Maass Medical Center Presents Heart Smart Choices and Diabetes Alert Day

03/15/2016

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 29.1 million people or 9.3 percent of the U.S. population has diabetes, and heart disease is the leading cause of death in the U.S., killing more than 600,000 people each year. Additionally, diabetes can lead to a number of other complications, such as hypertension, stroke and kidney disease. In an effort to reverse these statistics, Clara Maass Medical Center presents “Heart Smart Choices and Diabetes Alert Day” on Tuesday, March 22 at 11:30 a.m. at the Montclair Public Library.

It’s important to know your numbers. This event, led by Diabetes Educator Peggy Ryan, APN, will offer free screenings including blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol and BMI, as well as information about how to manage diabetes every day. Lunch will be served to all attendees.

“Heart Smart Choices and Diabetes Alert Day” takes place at the Montclair Public Library located at 50 South Fullerton Avenue in Montclair. Registration is required by calling 973.744.0500 or emailing reference@montclair.bccls.org.
