Clara Maass Medical Center Debuts Expansive New Building With New Intensive Care Unit

The building, a two-and-a-half-year-long project, features a new 27,000-square-foot ICU with private patient rooms that average 350 square feet, and include couches with pull-out beds for family members, a patient registration center, retail pharmacy and medical office space.

Belleville, New Jersey, April 5, 2017 --- More than two hundred community members, RWJBarnabas Health administrators, physicians, hospital staff and representatives from Rendina Healthcare Real Estate gathered at Clara Maass Medical Center recently to commemorate the grand opening and ribbon cutting for the medical center’s new 87,000-square-foot building.

Ostrowsky, President and Chief Executive Officer, RWJBarnabas Health. “This facility personifies Clara Maass Medical Center’s loyalty to its community to provide the highest level of care possible. RWJBarnabas Health will continue to build the kind of facilities necessary to fulfill the many needs of our communities.”

The spacious building will house Clara Maass Medical Center’s new main entrance and lobby, patient registration area, a retail pharmacy and 27,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art 32-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) featuring all private patient rooms designed to create a relaxing, healing environment for both patients and families.

The new ICU is designed to be completely family-centric and offers patients private, expansive rooms with pull-out beds for family members; family nutrition centers; comforting family waiting areas and a tranquility room for families and staff. The suite is designed to provide special healing features including privacy, soothing colors, and floor-to-ceiling windows. The ICU is also equipped with the latest medical technology available and state-of-the-art patient monitoring systems.
