Community Medical Center Wants To Help You Make 2014 A Healthy Year

December 24, 2013, Toms River, NJ - The winter weather can cause some people to feel what is called ‘the winter blues’ – a lack of motivation or energy and mild depression. Studies have shown that up to one third of Americans report experiencing a winter time slump. Community Medical Center invites you to attend one of these programs to learn ways to combat these feelings and maintain your health.

“Beating the Winter Blues” will teach you easy steps you can take to chase the winter blues away. It will take place Tuesday, January 14 from 10 – 11 am. The program ‘Relaxation Techniques to Help Beat the Blues” will introduce you to relaxation techniques to practice while the colder weather keeps you indoors. This program will be held on Tuesday, January 28 from 10 – 11 am. Both programs are free and will be held at The Lighthouse located at 591 Lakehurst Road in Toms River. The Center for Diabetes Education at Community Medical Center will be offering a Diabetes Self Management Program to help you learn the basics about diabetes, including what it is, how it affects the body, understanding blood sugar numbers and medications, and what to eat to maintain good blood sugar levels. This program is a series of four, two hour classes beginning on Friday, January 3 at 10:30 am. Classes are held Mondays at 6:30 pm, Tuesdays at 1 pm or Fridays at 10:30 am at The Lighthouse located at 591 Lakehurst Road in Toms River. Pre-registration is required by calling 732-349-5757.
