Toms River, N.J., August 29, 2013 – Community Medical Center’s Community Health Services, part of Barnabas Health, through a grant provided by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services, coordinates the New Jersey Cancer Education and Early Detection program in Ocean County. Currently, free clinical health screenings are available to uninsured women in Ocean County.
The program provides free clinical breast examinations, mammograms, cervical exams and pap smears to uninsured women between the ages of 40 and 64. To qualify for the program, participants must meet specific income requirements.
The next clinics will be held Wednesday, September 18 from 9 am to 2:30 pm and Tuesday, September 24, from 12 to 2:30 pm. Both clinics will be held at the Family Planning Center of Ocean County, Inc., 290 River Avenue in Lakewood. On Monday, September 23, from 1:30 to 4 pm a clinic will be held at the Long Beach Island Health Department, 1812 Long Beach Blvd, Ship Bottom and on Wednesday, September 25 from 1 to 3:30 pm a clinic will be held at the Ocean County Health Department, 175 Sunset Avenue, Toms River,
