Community Medical Center and Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus Host 'Day of Dance' to Raise Awareness of Heart Disease
February 20, 2015 – Toms River, NJ - Dancers of all ages and staff from Community Medical Center and Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus took over center court at the Ocean County Mall earlier this month to raise awareness of American Heart Month.
Day of Dance celebrates dancing as a way to encourage people of all ages to keep moving as a way to stay heart healthy. Hundreds of shoppers took time to learn about heart disease prevention strategies, gain a better understanding of their risk factors for heart disease and participate in lung cancer and blood pressure screenings.
Throughout the day, local dance groups performed including BeeCause, Creative Cardio, Denise Danielle Dance Studio, Lake Ridge Liners, N-Step, and Renaissance Ceili Group. In addition, Spiral Path Yoga led everyone in a yoga demonstration.
"Community Medical Center is committed to keeping area residents healthy and events like Day of Dance provide a fun atmosphere to learn important health information that can have a positive impact on our lives," said Stephanie L. Bloom, president and chief executive officer, Community Medical Center.
In addition to Day of Dance, the hospitals host many heart health events throughout February including Get Your Red On, a cardiac program for women. The event attracts over 300 women to learn how heart disease affects women differently than men.
