Community Medical Center Receives Accreditation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers

The Breast Center at the J. Phillip Citta Regional Cancer Center is the Only NAPBC-Accredited Program in Ocean and Atlantic counties

The Breast Center at the J. Phillip Citta Regional Cancer Center at Community Medical Center has been granted a three-year, full accreditation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a program administered by the American College of Surgeons. It is the only NAPBC accredited program in Ocean and Atlantic counties.

“At Community Medical Center we offer state-of-the-art-technology to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer, surgeons, including a fellowship trained breast surgeon, highly skilled medical and radiation oncologists, and a Breast Cancer Navigator to guide women through a diagnosis of breast cancer,” says Michael Mimoso, MHSA, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Office, Community Medical Center. “This designation validates the care we provide and is a testament to our staff’s dedication to our patients and quality care,” he added.

The Breast Center has demonstrated a firm commitment to offering patients every significant advantage in the battle against breast disease and is led by William Schulman, MD, Medical Director. All centers receiving NAPCB accreditation must undergo a rigorous evaluation process and meet high quality standards. Centers must have a full range of state-of-the-art services, a multidisciplinary team approach to care to ensure and coordinate the best treatment options and access to ongoing clinical trials and new treatment options.

“As a cancer diagnosis is a scary thing, our goal is for patients to have peace of mind that at the J. Phillip Citta Regional Cancer Center, they will receive the highest level of care in a community setting,” said Rajesh Iyer, MD, chair of the Radiation Department and chair of the Cancer Committee, Community Medical Center. “With this full accreditation designation, patients and their families can feel even more confident that they have access to the latest treatments in a facility that meets national standards.”
