Community Medical Center Hosts Colorectal Cancer Awareness Symposium and 13th Annual Colorectal Cancer Awareness Fair


Toms River, NJ, March 21, 2017 -- In recognition of National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, Community Medical Center is offering two free community education programs to raise awareness about prevention, early detection and treatment of colorectal cancer.

A colorectal cancer awareness symposium will be held Tuesday, March 28, 5:30 pm at the Community Medical Center Auditorium, 99 Rt. 37 West, Toms River. The symposium will feature medical experts discussing topics important to colorectal cancer awareness, including risk factors, screening for early detection, treatment options and prevention strategies. The hospital’s 13th Annual Colorectal Cancer Awareness Fair, chaired by Paul J. DeMartino, MD, FACG, will also be held Tuesday, March 28 from 3:30 to 5:30 pm in the Outpatient Lobby. This year, guests will have a chance to ‘test drive’ a state-of-the-art surgical robot. Participants will have the opportunity to meet nurses and physicians who will be available throughout the day to answer questions. Health care professionals will present information on risk factors, the importance of early detection and nutritional considerations pertaining to colorectal cancer. There will also be a colonoscopy demonstration and tours. The event is free and there will be prize drawings. Free parking is available for fair attendees.
