David Diehl Meets with Students to Discuss Leadership and Explore Career Opportunities


Toms River, NJ, November 22, 2017 – David Diehl, former New York Giants player and two-time Super Bowl champion, met with students from Community Medical Center’s Healthcare Youth Learning Collaborative program last night to discuss the importance of leadership and teamwork. Community Medical Center, a RWJBarnabas Health facility, hosted the workforce development program last night as a career building experience for students from local schools.

Diehl, who serves as an ambassador for RWJBarnabas Health spoke to the students and then spent the evening with them as the they learned about career clinical and non-clinical career opportunities in hospitals, such as respiratory therapy and radiology. Diehl accompanied students as they toured various departments in Community Medical Center and participated in hands-on demonstrations, such as how to do an intubation.

“Now in its second year, the Healthcare Youth Learning Collaborative program introduces high school students to the wide range of careers available in the healthcare field,” said Teri Kubiel, DNP, MSN, NE-BC, Vice President of Patient Experience and Community Affairs. “We’re thrilled to have David Diehl here to speak to the students to offer some practical goal-setting advice that they can apply to their coursework in this program.”

Community Medical Center works in collaboration with the Barnegat Township school system to share these opportunities to assist all students reach their highest potential. Sharing career opportunities in conjunction with high school curricula is presented through monthly lectures and workshops held at the hospital.
