As a highlight to its numerous activities National EMS Week, Jersey City Medical Center, a RWJBarnabas Health facility, held a special memorial service honoring EMS workers (volunteer and professional) who lost their lives in service during 2015. The ceremony took place on the Jersey City Waterfront overlooking the Hudson River and the World Trade Center site. This was done in conjunction with National Memorial EMS Bike Ride from Boston, Massachusetts to the Nation’s Capital in Washington, DC with several hundred riders participating from throughout the United States and Canada. Local elected officials praised the riders, presented the Jersey City Medical Center EMS with EMS week proclamations from the Hudson County Freeholders and one from the City of Jersey City. NY Waterway Ferries moved the riders and their bikes from NYC to Hudson County. Robert Luckritz, Director of the JCMC EMS thanked NY Waterways and said it was very fitting that NY Waterway was our partner on this ride as they were our partner moving hundreds seeking aid on September 11th and ferried people to medical assistance when flight 1549 crashed into the Hudson.
