09/27/2013

LONG BRANCH, NJ – The David S. Zocchi Brain Tumor Center at Monmouth Medical Center will host the 8th Annual David S. Zocchi Memorial Golf Outing on Monday, October 7 at the Manasquan River Golf Club to benefit the family support programs offered by the David S. Zocchi Brain Tumor Center, including Camp Jinka and Brainstorm, as well as national advocacy efforts.

Camp Jinka is a free summer program offered to kids and teens whose lives have been impacted by the diagnosis of a brain tumor. The camp offers creative activities while encouraging expression and connection with others having a similar life experience. Brainstorm is a dialogue and education program designed to teach brain tumor patients, caregivers and supporters about the condition while providing them with the tools necessary to navigate the many challenges they will face.

David S. Zocchi battled brain cancer for nearly six years before passing away in 2005. The David S. Zocchi Brain Tumor Center in the Leon Hess Cancer Center at Monmouth Medical Center opened in 2007, and is the first hospital in central and southern New Jersey dedicated to providing a full spectrum of comprehensive services to treat benign and malignant tumors originating in the brain and spinal cord, as well as neurological complications of cancer that has spread to other regions of the body. In addition to offering cutting-edge and specialized treatment, the David S. Zocchi Brain Tumor Center offers support programs for patients, caregivers and families of patients who are undergoing treatment for central nervous system (CNS) cancers or who have suffered loss of a loved one.

Check in for the Memorial Golf Outing begins at 10:30 a.m. with tee-off at 12 p.m. Tickets are $350 for an individual golfer and include green fees, carts, prizes, lunch and a cocktail reception with dinner. Non-golfers who wish to show their support can purchase tickets for the cocktail reception and dinner for $100 per person.

The Manasquan River Golf Club is located at 843 Riverview Drive in Brielle. Sponsorship opportunities are also still available. For more information or to register, visit www.zocchigolf.org.
