Long Branch, N.J. – Monmouth Medical Center, a Barnabas Health facility, recently announced its partnership with the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank as part of the hospital’s ongoing community outreach.
As the presenting sponsor of the Basie Awards, Monmouth Medical Center will help the Count Basie Theatre recognize high school students from Monmouth County at the Eighth Annual Awards Ceremony on May 22. The ceremony will include musical production numbers from the schools nominated for specific categories, most of which are based on Broadway’s Tony Awards, including Overall Outstanding Musical, as well as musical medleys performed by those nominated for Lead Actor and Actress.
“Monmouth Medical Center is proud to partner with the Count Basie Theatre to support arts in our schools and community,” says Frank J. Vozos, M.D., FACS, president and chief executive officer of Monmouth Medical Center. “Like the Count Basie Theatre, Monmouth’s Medical Center is dedicated to creating and maintaining strong community partnerships. It is part of our vision to be a leader in forming collaborative relationships with other providers in service to our community.” Basie CEO Adam Philipson added, “The Count Basie Theatre shares a similar philosophy about making meaningful collaborations in the community and we are grateful for the partnership with Monmouth Medical Center and Barnabas Health.”
In addition to presenting the Basie Awards, Monmouth Medical Center will also endorse several classes annually through Count Basie Theatre’s Performing Arts Academy – the first of which is a four-week tap dance crash course. Offered to teens and adults, this four-week program is held on Thursdays, April 18 and 25 and May 2 and 9, as well as May 16, 23 and 30 and June 6 from 6 to 7 p.m. Instructor Jacqueline Mazza will teach participants tap vocabulary, combinations and fully choreographed dance sequences.
