Monmouth Medical Center Presents June Childbirth and Parenting Programs

BREASTFEEDING SUPPORT GROUP
Mondays, June 1 & 8 from 10 to 11 a.m.
This support group is run by a registered, board-certified lactation consultant with NICU experience. Topics covered will include newborn and growing infants, premature infants in hospital and at home, pumping and exclusive pumping, common challenges as well as all topics and issues related to breastfeeding. This group meets at Monmouth Medical Center's Stanley Room 214, located at 300 Second Avenue in Long Branch. Registration is required by calling 732-923-6992. Free.

MOTHER TO MOTHER SUPPORT GROUP
Mondays, June 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Once your baby arrives, join other new mothers to talk about what you are experiencing. Discussions will be led by a registered nurse on topics including infant behavior, feeding, sleeping patterns and crying, as well as recovering from childbirth. Newborns up to age 6 months and fathers are welcome. The program will be held at Monmouth Medical Center, located at 300 Second Avenue in Long Branch. PREPARATION FOR CHILDBIRTH
Tuesdays, June 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30 from 7 to 9 p.m.
This course offers five sessions of childbirth education including lectures on relaxation and breathing techniques. This program will be held at Monmouth Medical Center, located at 300 Second Avenue in Long Branch. To register, call 732-923-6992. $125 per couple.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR TODDLER
Tuesday, June 2 from 6 to 9 p.m.
Babies between the age of 1 and 3 are starting to walk, say "no" and throw tantrums. This program features a discussion of coping strategies for life with a toddler, including real parent-tested techniques. Communication, discipline, building confidence and learning patience will be covered. Ample time for questions and answers is provided in this interactive class. This program will take place at Monmouth Medical Center, located at 300 Second Avenue in Long Branch. Registration is required by calling 732-923-6992. $75 per couple.

CESAREAN BIRTH EDUCATION
Wednesday, June 3 from 7 to 9 p.m.
This education program is for couples and offers explanations of what to expect if Cesarean delivery is indicated for first time or repeat Cesarean deliveries. This program will be held at Monmouth Medical Center, located at 300 Second Avenue, Long Branch. To register, call 732-923-6992. $50 per couple.

TWO-DAY PREPARATION FOR CHILDBIRTH
Saturdays, June 6 & 13 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A complete childbirth education program in two-sessions including lectures on relaxation and breathing techniques. A continental breakfast will be provided. This class will be held at Monmouth Medical Center, located at 300 Second Avenue in Long Branch. Registration is required by calling 732-923-6992. $160 per couple.

EISENBERG FAMILY CENTER TOUR
Sunday, June 7 or 28 at 3 p.m. and Wednesday, June 17 at 8 p.m.
Tour the Eisenberg Family Center, which offers a comfortable, homelike environment for expectant mothers in our expanded labor, delivery and recovery unit, and spacious postpartum rooms for women recovering from childbirth. Tours will be conducted by a staff member who will answer your questions. Tours are held at Monmouth Medical Center, located at 300 Second Avenue in Long Branch. HAPPIEST BABY ON THE BLOCK

The class, which includes a DVD and Soothing Sounds CD, will be held at Monmouth Medical Center, located at 300 Second Avenue in Long Branch. GRANDPARENTS RAISING GRANDCHILDREN
Wednesday, June 17 from 6 to 7 p.m.
During this program, co-sponsored by Social Community Activities Network (SCAN), grandparents will have the opportunity to meet with a prenatal educator and discuss current trends in childbirth and infant care so they can help support their own children as they become parents. The program is designed to provide helpful tips for issues related to multi-generational parenting. This program will take place in the SCAN auditorium in the lower level of the Monmouth Mall located at routes 35 and 36 in Eatontown. For more information or to register, please call 732-542-1326.

MOMS OF MULTIPLES SUPPORT GROUP
Wednesday, June 17 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Come join the only Moms of Multiples Support Group in the area. Led by a registered nurse and a mother of multiples herself, topics will include feeding and caring for more than one baby, sleep patterns and behaviors, getting out of the house, relationship changes and more. Meet and network with other new moms whose situations are similar to your own. Babies are welcome. This program will be held at Monmouth Medical Center, located at 300 Second Avenue in Long Branch. MAKE ROOM FOR BABY

This is a special program for families and siblings (age two and older) who are expecting a baby brother or sister. ONE-DAY CHILDBIRTH PROGRAM
Sunday, June 28 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
A complete childbirth preparation course in one day geared for highly motivated participants with busy lifestyles or fluctuating schedules unable to commit to a five-week program. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. The course will be held at Monmouth Medical Center, located at 300 Second Avenue in Long Branch. ADOPTIVE PARENTING

Planning an adoption? This program helps you prepare for your child's arrival. Classes include information on infant care, feeding and formula preparation, baby equipment, safety and child growth and development during the first year of life. For information, call 732-923-6992. $175 per couple.

GESTATIONAL DIABETES EDUCATION PROGRAM
Call to schedule an appointment.
This one-session class is designed for women who develop gestational diabetes during pregnancy. Participants will learn how gestational diabetes develops, the link between diet and blood glucose, how to plan healthy meals and how to use a blood glucose meter for home monitoring. A free blood glucose meter starter kit will be provided. Appointments are scheduled Monday through Friday as needed at The Center for Diabetes Education at Monmouth Medical Center, located at 300 Second Avenue in Long Branch. PEDIATRIC PRE-OPERATIVE TOURS

Tours are available for pediatric patients preparing to have a surgical procedure in the Cranmer Ambulatory Surgery Center at Monmouth. Tours are designed to reduce anxiety giving children a hands-on experience with medical equipment and visitation to areas they will encounter on the day of their surgery. Meet in the Pediatric Playroom of the Cranmer Ambulatory Surgery Center, located at 300 Second Avenue in Long Branch. Registration is required by calling 732-923-6525. Free.
