Monmouth Medical Center Presents March Childbirth and Parenting Programs

PREPARATION FOR CHILDBIRTH
Tuesdays, March 1, 15, 22 & 29 from 7 to 9 p.m.

This course offers five sessions of childbirth education including lectures on relaxation and breathing techniques. This program will be held at Monmouth Medical Center, located at 300 Second Avenue in Long Branch. To register, call 732-923-6992. $125 per couple.

HAPPIEST BABY ON THE BLOCK
Thursday, March 3 from 7 to 9 p.m.

Learn an extraordinary approach to keeping your baby happy based on the highly effective approach pioneered by Dr. Harvey Karp in his best-selling book and DVD. The class, which includes a DVD and Soothing Sounds CD, will be held at Monmouth Medical Center, located at 300 Second Avenue in Long Branch. MAKE ROOM FOR BABY
Saturday, March 5 from 10 to 11 a.m.

This is a special program for families and siblings (age two and older) who are expecting a baby brother or sister. Staff will acquaint them with the hospital setting and help to prepare them for the baby. This program is held at Monmouth Medical Center, located at 300 Second Avenue in Long Branch. BREASTFEEDING TODAY
Saturday, March 5 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

An introduction to breastfeeding for prospective mothers and fathers focusing on the process and techniques of breastfeeding, including advantages, preparation, concerns of working mothers and the role of the family. This is held at Monmouth Medical Center, located at 300 Second Avenue in Long Branch. To register, call 732-923-6992. $65 per couple.

DADDY KNOWS BEST
Sunday, March 6 from 9 a.m. to noon

During this hands-on program for fathers-to-be, a registered nurse and father of three will teach diapering, bathing, changing and other skills to prepare first-time fathers for the new arrival. Valuable time with “veteran” dads and their babies will be included. This class will be held at Monmouth Medical Center, located at 300 Second Avenue in Long Branch. ONE-DAY MARVELOUS MULTIPLES
Sunday, March 6 & 10 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This one-day childbirth education program for those expecting twins, triplets or more is to be attended early in the second trimester of pregnancy. The class will cover nutrition, labor and delivery, anesthesia options, Cesarean section, relaxation techniques, risks and complications of multiple pregnancy, recovery and caring for multiples. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. There will also be a tour of the Regional Newborn Center. GRANDPARENTS PROGRAM
Monday, March 7 from 7 to 9 p.m.

During this program, grandparents will have the opportunity to meet with a prenatal educator and discuss current trends in childbirth and infant care so they can help support their own children as they become parents. A tour of The Eisenberg Family Center is included. This program will be held at Monmouth Medical Center, located at 300 Second Avenue in Long Branch. CHILDBIRTH EDUCATION IN SPANISH – NEW!
Tuesday, March 8 from 7 to 9 p.m.

For most pregnant women, even if you already have a child, the labor and birth process can be both overwhelming and joyful. Childbirth classes help give you the confidence to get through labor and delivery. This class, taught in Spanish by childbirth educators, will prepare each couple for the birth experience. EISENBERG FAMILY CENTER TOUR
Wednesday, March 9 from 8 to 9 p.m. and
Sunday, March 20 from 3 to 4 p.m.

Tour the Eisenberg Family Center, which offers a comfortable, homelike environment for expectant mothers in our expanded labor, delivery and recovery unit, and spacious postpartum rooms for women recovering from childbirth. Tours will be conducted by a staff member who will answer your questions. Tours are held at Monmouth Medical Center, located at 300 Second Avenue in Long Branch. TWO-DAY PREPARATION FOR CHILDBIRTH

BABY FAIR – Back by Popular Demand!
Sunday, March 13 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Is there a baby in your future? Whether you’re already pregnant or plan on becoming a parent someday, you are invited to this free community event for expectant and prospective parents. Here’s your chance to talk with health care professionals about the childbirth experience, maternity choices or any other topics that are important to you. Join us for a tour of the Eisenberg Family Center and nursery. Refreshments and free gifts will be offered. CHILDBIRTH UPDATE - VAGINAL BIRTH AFTER CESAREAN
Wednesday, March 16 from 7 to 9 p.m.

This childbirth preparation review program teaches the latest breathing exercises and newest aspects of obstetrics. For those planning a vaginal birth after cesarean, discussion will include criteria, contra-indications, preparation and more. ONE-DAY CHILDBIRTH PROGRAM
Sunday, March 20 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

A complete childbirth preparation course in one day geared for highly motivated participants with busy lifestyles or fluctuating schedules unable to commit to a five-week program. BABY CARE BASICS
Thursdays, March 24 & 31 from 1 to 3 p.m.

This two-session program focuses on the care of the new baby including bathing, dressing, feeding and infant growth. Learn everything you need to know about infant care including development, safety and decisions about returning to work and other adjustments to life with baby for the new parents. The course will be held at Monmouth Medical Center, located at 300 Second Avenue in Long Branch. To register, call 732-923-6992. $95 per couple.
