Monmouth Medical Center and WEforum Promote Health Education at Women’s Health and Wellness Conference

More than 400 people recently joined Monmouth Medical Center, a RWJBarnabas Health facility, and WEforum, a female-led organization whose mission is to strengthen the health and wellness of communities within New Jersey, for the inaugural WEforum Women’s Health and Wellness Conference held at the Ocean Place Resort and Spa in Long Branch.

WEforum targets women because they’re often the guardians of health maintenance for their families, as well as for themselves. Capsulizing the deeper mission of WEforum is their tagline, “When you educate a woman, she empowers her family, and together WE can evolve a community.”

The day-long conference, designed to provide an opportunity for participants to gain a fuller understanding of caring for their health and that of their family’s through education and early prevention, featured more than 30 workshops led by renowned experts from medical and health-related disciplines, including keynote speaker Marion Nestle, Ph.D., M.P.H., food advocate, professor and best-selling author.

“Thanks to this partnership of more than 100 dynamic, forward-thinking Monmouth County women volunteers and Monmouth Medical Center, the inaugural WEforum featured workshops on a gamut of health and wellness issues with the focus of changing the health care paradigm and helping the community become healthier,” said Bill Arnold, President and CEO, Monmouth Medical Center. “We are truly grateful to WEforum for targeting proceeds of the conference to support free educational health and wellness programs and services developed by Monmouth Medical Center to make vital health care information accessible to the entire community.”

Additionally, the event featured 10 free health screenings from Monmouth Medical Center, giveaways and raffles and a vendor fair with more than 85 local vendor tables, including medical practices, health care facilities and businesses in the fitness, food, cosmetics and wellness education fields.

Through the support of initiatives such as WEforum, Monmouth Medical Center offers a wide range of free preventative screenings, support groups and health education programs for children, adult and seniors to promote healthy lifestyles through wellness and prevention.
