Long Branch, NJ – Monmouth Medical Center, an RWJBarnabas Health facility, recently served
as a sponsor for Monmouth University’s Annual Kids Day Women’s
Basketball Game (Monmouth University vs. Quinnipiac University). Attended
by more than 1,400 middle and elementary school students, the goal of
the January 19 event was to raise awareness of the importance of children
adopting healthy, active lifestyles.
Monmouth Medical Center led pre-game and half-time health and fitness activities,
and Margaret Fisher, M.D., chair of pediatrics and medical director of
The Unterberg Children’s Hospital at Monmouth Medical Center, was
on hand to introduce WEforum wellness ambassadors LB Kass and John Nies.
Kass, who offers dance body workout classes at her LB Kass Studio in Shrewsbury,
and Nies, who operates The Power Center, holistic fitness studios located
in Fair Haven and Ocean Township, are among the fitness experts participating
in the second annual Fit Crawl on February 4. The Fit Crawl was developed
by WEforum to provide an inspiring day of health and wellness sampling
up to three classes at the hottest fitness studios in Monmouth County.
At the annual Kids Day Women’s Basketball Game, Kass and Nies led
high-energy physical activities on the court and courtside. They joined
representatives of The Unterberg Children’s Hospital’s Safe
Kids NJ Chapter, who provided child safety tips.
“We’re happy to participate in events like this because it’s
important to instill the lifelong benefits of a healthy lifestyle at a
young age,” says Dr. Fisher.
In addition to LB Kass Studio and The Power Center, fitness studios participating
in the Fit Crawl include 3B Fit, Clementine, Coastal Core Fitness, Even
Flow Yoga, MegaCycle, Perspirology, Pilates Blast, Pure Barre Red Bank,
Renaissance Pilates, Synergy Hot Yoga, Tandem Cycle, and YOUnique Yoga.
Fit crawlers will also enjoy a post-crawl celebration at Detour Gallery
in downtown Red Bank, featuring cold-pressed organic juices from Juice
Basin of Asbury Park, free giveaways, vendors, and healthy bites. Fee
to register is $50.
“Regular exercise, a healthy diet and preventive screenings are among
the keys to good health, and we are so thankful to WEforum for partnering
with us to educate our community that leading a healthy lifestyle is a
life choice – and that the benefits are immeasurable,” says
Bill Arnold, president and CEO of Monmouth Medical Center.
WEforum’s Women’s Education Forum is designed to provide an
opportunity for participants to gain a fuller understanding of caring
for their health and that of their family’s through education and
early prevention. In partnership with Monmouth Medical Center, the inaugural
WEforum conference was presented in 2016. The second annual WEforum will
be held in November. For more information on the conference or to register
