LAKEWOOD, N.J. – Kimball Medical Center, a Barnabas Health facility, has been awarded a three-year Accreditation with Commendation by the Commission on Cancer – the highest level of accreditation available through the organization.
The accreditation process involved a rigorous evaluation that measured Kimball’s commitment to quality care, ongoing improvement and public accountability for the care and services it provides. Kimball was recognized specifically for its comprehensive cancer prevention and screening programs as well as its ability to implement annual cancer-related improvements throughout the facility.
“Achieving Accreditation with Commendation reflects the dedication and commitment of our team to providing the highest level of cancer treatment and care possible,” said Renee Eldershaw, Director of Standards, Kimball Medical Center.
The Commission on Cancer hopes to reduce the morbidity and mortality rate of cancer through education, standard setting and monitoring of quality care. The accreditation evaluation involved an on-site survey by experienced healthcare professionals who gathered extensive performance information as the basis for evaluating compliance. Institutions involved in the Accreditation Program represent almost 1,500 facilities that offer the entire spectrum of cancer control activities, from prevention to rehabilitation and long term follow-up.
