According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, positive thoughts
make us feel good about our progress while negative thoughts can cause
us to lose hope and hinder our progress. In an effort to encourage positive
thinking in cancer patients, the Cancer Support Community at Monmouth
Medical Center, Southern Campus presents “The Joy of Positive Thinking”
on Wednesday, March 2 from 3 to 4 p.m. at Monmouth Medical Center, Southern
Campus’ Center for Healthy Living in Lakewood.
This program, led by Maria Jonas, MSW social work intern, will include
discussions on the many benefits of thinking positively and the ways to
do so, as well as how to navigate the landscape of complex emotions and
boost self-esteem. Attendees will also create a “positive affirmation
jar” that they can use daily to support positive thinking.
The Joy of Positive Thinking is free and open to the public, and will be
held at Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus’ Center for Healthy
Living, located at 198 Prospect Street in Lakewood. Registration is required
by calling 732-923-6090.
