2013 Women’s Health Day at The Beth Focuses on
EDUCATION AND EMPOWERMENT
150 Women Expected to Participate in
Annual Wellness Conference
NEWARK, NJ – May 27, 2013 —Newark Beth Israel Medical Center (NBIMC) will host its second annual Women’s
Health Day at The Beth on Saturday, June 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at
the Center for Women’s Health, 201 Lyons Avenue. The one-day conference
will feature a physician panel, breakout groups featuring physicians and
experts, lunch and a wellness and homeopathic breakout session as well.
Registrants can also pre-register for free vascular and breast screenings
in the fall.
John A. Brennan, MD, MPH, President and Chief Executive Officer of Newark
Beth Israel Medical Center (NBIMC) and Children’s Hospital of New
Jersey (CHoNJ) and Executive Vice President of Barnabas Health said, “Women’s
health is one of our top priorities at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.
When we started Women’s Health Day at The Beth, the goal was to
promote wellness and to engage more women in healthy lifestyles.”
Women’s Health Day at The Beth includes a physician panel featuring
the following physicians: Michael Pitter-OB/GYN; Janette McDermott-Breast
Health, Oncology Disease Management; Anshu Garg-Cardiac; Suken Shah-Interventional
Radiology and Laura Budinick, Clinical Psychology.
In addition to the physician panel, the Clinical Breakouts will include
Dr. Fred Waldron, Assistant Director of the Emergency Department, who
will speak on Stroke Prevention, Dr.
Throughout the day participants will be offered Women’s Health Screenings
and breast, vascular and lung assessments. The program also will include
panel discussions from physicians from The Beth.
Yvonne Wesley, PhD, RN, FAAN, author of “Black Women’s Health:
Challenges and Opportunities” and Gloria Boseman, PhD, RN and professor
at New Jersey City University are the featured speakers.
Guests will be offered breakfast, lunch and special gifts. For registration
