Youth from Rutgers Prep to screen The Weinstein Company film, Escape From Planet Earth

Escape from Planet EarthNEWARK, N.J.—Film producer Marvin Peart is treating his son’s entire second-grade class to a movie on Sun., Feb. 10th. They will attend a special screening of Escape From Planet Earth at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) just four days before the animated film debuts on Valentine’s Day in movie theaters nationwide. Peart, a Marlboro resident (Monmouth County), served as an Executive Producer on The Weinstein Company’s (TWC) latest film. Peart is believed to be the first African-American man to serve as an executive producer of a major animated film. The official red-carpet movie premiere is taking place in Los Angeles on Feb. 2.

Newark Beth Israel Medical Center (NBIMC) is hosting the Feb. 10th event at NJPAC as a result of a partnership formed with Peart, whose father received a heart transplant at the hospital. The screening will benefit the Harvey and Georgina Weinstein National Heart Transplant Center at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. The new film features the voices of an all-star cast including: Sarah Jessica Parker, William Shatner, Brendan Fraser, Jessica Alba, George Lopez, Rob Corddry, Jane Lynch and Sofia Vergara.
