NEWARK, NJ – October 16, 2015 – Area men are invited to meet N.Y. Giants Super Bowl Champion George Martin during a tailgate party and free preventive health event held at the Maplewood Country Club, 28 Baker Street in Maplewood, New Jersey on Monday, October 19. Monday Night Football and Men’s Health Night with The Beth" begins at 6:00 pm. Men will have an opportunity to do various health screenings and speak with representatives from Newark Beth Israel Medical Center (NBIMC).

“This is our fourth year hosting Men’s Health Night with The Beth,” said John A. Brennan, MD, MPH, President and Chief Executive Officer, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of New Jersey, Executive Vice President, Barnabas Health, “This initiative, similar to the Women’s Health Day held in the Spring, uses a sports theme to encourage greater participation and has helped hundreds of men since its inception.”

Legendary defensive lineman George Martin, who played for the N.Y. Giants from 1975 to 1988 and was team captain in January 1987 during Giant’s Super Bowl XXI victory over the Denver Broncos, will be the featured speaker.

NBIMC physicians will be on site at Monday Night Football/Men’s Health Night with The Beth and new this year, attendees will hear about personal experiences from patients who will speak about overcoming obstacles to refocus on their health.

Mr. Martin’s presence at the event combined with the screenings and health information are designed to encourage men to make their health a priority. The evening will continue with an 8:30 pm kick-off to the New York Giants game as they play the Philadelphia Eagles, along with free refreshments, prizes and giveaways.

Free health screenings that will be offered include: Blood Pressure; Depression, HIV/AIDS; Prostate (PSA), Lung information and more.
