Reverend Dr. Ronald B. Christian
NEWARK, NJ (February, 2016) – Interim President and Chief Executive Officer
at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of
New Jersey (NBIMC) Darrell K. Terry, Sr., MHA, MPH, FACHE, announced to
a packed auditorium that 208 Lyons Avenue, across from NBIMC’s Emergency
Department entrance, will be named the “Reverend Dr. Ronald B. Christian
Community Health and Wellness Center” after the late NBIMC Board
Member and Pastor of Christian Love Baptist Church.
“Rev. Ron knew the value of building bridges in the community. He
was a true champion for The Beth and integral to our efforts for a healthier
Newark,” stated Darrell K. Terry, “Rev. Ron devoted his life
to providing support to those in need. He believed that the partnership
with NBIMC in creating a healthcare ministry was important.”
The program of reflection and song included remarks by Barry H. Ostrowsky,
President and Chief Executive Officer, Barnabas Health; Marc E. Berson,
Chair, Board of Trustees, NBIMC and Barnabas Health; Rev. Louise Scott-Rountree,
Mayoral Aide for Clergy Affairs; Rev. Dr. Milton Biggham of Mt. Vernon
Baptist Church; Rev. Alfreddy Fletcher, Christian Love Baptist Church,
and family members.
Distinguished guests at the Black History Month Tribute to Rev. Ron included
Congressman Donald Payne, Jr., Newark Council President Mildred Crump,
Giblin and Assemblywoman
Tucker. Featured speaker, Rev. Dr. Marilyn Harris and featured soloist, Raine
Lassiter, both of NBIMC, provided the audience with powerful performances.
Programs are officially underway at the Reverend Dr. Ronald B. Christian
Community Health and Wellness Center with the official Ribbon Cutting
