Spirit Halloween – Spirit of Children Steadfast Support of the Child Life Department at Children's Hospital of New Jersey

Amounts to More than $400,000

NEWARK, NJ – (January 2017) Spirit of Halloween - Spirit of Children recently presented the child life program at Children's Hospital of New Jersey (CHoNJ) at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center a check for $60,201 in donations raised by Spirit Halloween and their customers from the Northern New Jersey area. With this gift, their support over the last seven years amounts to more than $400,000 from the retailer’s Spirit of Children program.

Their donations help enhance the inpatient experience at CHoNJ. It has helped fund a part-time art therapist position, a weekend child life specialist and playroom supplies. "Donations from Spirit of Children have made a significant impact for our young patients,” said Darrell K. Terry, Sr., President and Chief Executive Officer, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of New Jersey, “We are thankful for the support and look forward to expanding our partnership.”

Spirit of Children brings fun and funding to 134 children's hospitals across the country during Halloween and all year long to help make hospitals less scary for young patients. The donations go directly to Child Life Departments who help children and their families cope with the many stresses experienced while undergoing medical treatment.
