Saint Barnabas Burn Foundation Honors Young Artists at Poster Contest Awards Program

2013 Burn Poster Winners

Livingston, NJ -- Recently, in recognition of Burn Awareness Week, Saint Barnabas Burn Foundation held the 24th Annual Burn Awareness Poster Contest. Pictured at the awards program are children from throughout the state who were selected as this year’s winners along with E. Hani Mansour, MD, Medical Director of The Burn Center at Saint Barnabas Medical Center.

The first place winning artwork was selected as the Burn Foundation’s official poster which was mailed to schools and fire departments throughout the state. The top three finishers received a $100, $75 and $50 Gift Card respectively. A winner from each county (not already represented in the top three) was awarded a $25 Gift Card.

The contest is sponsored by Saint Barnabas Burn Foundation and the Aluminum Cans for Burned Children (ACBC) project. ACBC is an aluminum can recycling program involving the voluntary efforts of more than 30 New Jersey fire departments, corporations and organizations. Money raised through the ACBC Program is used to purchase items and services that are essential to the recovery of pediatric burn patients at The Burn Center at Saint Barnabas Medical Center. These items, which are not covered by insurance, might include special protective clothing that helps minimize scarring or bicycles that help youngsters exercise injured arms and legs. In addition to these essential items, the ACBC Program supports the popular Mobile Fire Safety House Program.
