Saint Barnabas Medical Center Announces March 2017 Calendar of Events

Diabetes Self-Management Class
March 1, 8, 15, 22; 6:00 to 8:00 pm

The Diabetes Self-Management Class, available for all ages, is taught by certified diabetes educators, nurses and nutritionists, and includes four two-hour classes plus a one-hour follow-up class. Topics covered include Diabetes disease process, nutritional management, physical activity, medications, monitoring, prevention, detection, and treatment of acute and chronic complications, goal setting and problem solving, and psychosocial adjustment. Free Cardiac and Concussion Screenings For Young Athletes

Morahan III Health Assessment Center for Athletes of RWJBarnabas Health will provide free cardiac screening for children ages 6 to 18 years and concussion baseline screenings (ImPACT) for 5- to 18-year-old children. The New Jersey Bariatric and Metabolic Institute at Saint Barnabas offers a monthly specialized support group for patients who have had bariatric surgery. This informal group provides an opportunity for patients to discuss weight loss surgery experiences. Each support group offers additional educational and networking opportunities for participants. We welcome patients who are preparing for surgery as well. All meetings are run by a registered dietitian and a licensed psychologist. Advances in Minimally Invasive Joint Replacement
