Carol Jean F Carol's Pink Crusader Patient Story

Today, Carol Jean is cancer free and her daughter is in college.

Carol Jean Floegel had a strong family history of breast cancer. She had her first mammography at the age of 19. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in her early forties. With a three-year-old daughter, she was determined to fight. After meeting with her breast surgeon, Carol Jean decided to have a modified radical mastectomy with node removal. Due to her clinical findings, she did not require additional radiation or chemotherapy.

Today, Carol Jean is cancer free and her daughter is in college. She continues to receive her annual mammogram and perform monthly self-exams. Her advice to others is to be your best advocate. Choose the treatment that is right for you and have trust in your health care team. Breast cancer is physical, emotional and sexual and all three areas need to be addressed.
